Squash (winter)
Antibacterial. Anti-inflammatory. Antioxidant. A superb source of vitamin A, winter squash also has an unusual combination of carotenoid antioxidants and healthful albeit tongue-twisting compounds called cucurbitacins, which have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The types of omega-3s in winter squash have also been shown to suppress inflammation. In vitro tests also suggest that winter squash could limit cholesterol production in the body.
